Spring into a Clean Kitchen

Which room do you clean every day but still probably needs a deep spring clean? If you said the kitchen, you are absolutely right. We clean our kitchens daily, but every once in a while, it’s time to really get in there and scrub. Not sure where to start? We have some tips.

Declutter and Organize

Start by decluttering your kitchen countertops, cabinets, drawers and pantry. Remove any items you no longer use or need. Organize your kitchen tools, cookware, utensils and food items in a way that makes them easily accessible.

Deep Clean Appliances

Clean the inside and outside of your kitchen appliances, including the refrigerator, oven, microwave, dishwasher and toaster oven. Remove food spills, grease and grime from surfaces using your favorite cleaners and disinfectants. Don’t forget to clean the coils or filters of your appliances for optimal performance.

Clean Cabinets and Drawers

Remove everything from inside cabinets and drawers, vacuum or wipe out crumbs and debris and then wipe down surfaces with a damp cloth or wood cleaner. Add or replace shelf liners for easy cleanup.

Refresh Small Appliances

Clean smaller kitchen appliances such as coffee makers, blenders and toasters. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning each appliance, including descaling coffee makers and removing crumbs from toasters.

Wash Windows and Window Treatments

Clean windows, windowsills and window treatments to let in more natural light and fresh air. Use a glass cleaner or a mixture of water and vinegar to remove streaks and smudges from windows. Launder curtains or wipe down blinds as needed.

Dust and Clean Light Fixtures

Dust light fixtures, ceiling fans and light bulbs. Use a microfiber cloth or duster to remove dust and cobwebs from light fixtures, and clean light bulbs with a soft, dry cloth.

Freshen Up Garbage Disposal and Drains

Run ice cubes and citrus peels through your garbage disposal to freshen it up and remove odors. Pour boiling water down kitchen drains to help clear any buildup of grease and food debris.

Clean Floors

Sweep and mop kitchen floors to remove dirt, crumbs and spills. Pay attention to corners and baseboards where dust and debris tend to accumulate. Consider using a steam mop for a deeper clean — especially if you have tile or laminate flooring.
